By using a laser based distance sensor, the MikroKopter is able to follow a terrain contour.
So the copter can always keep a constant distance to the ground.
This is very useful when e.g. a surface to be measured has large differences in height (for example slope on the mountain).

The sensitivity, this means. how strong the MikroKopter should adapt to a terrain change is adjustable.
